Nintendo will be the third major console maker to present its pre-E3 media briefing this year in a Nokia Theatre event to be held at 9 a.m. PST on Tuesday, June 7.
The company
recently confirmed that the successor to its current Wii console will be available in playable form at the show, and discussion of the new hardware is expected to dominate the media briefing.
The new system is being targeted for a release in the 2012 calendar year, but
not before the end of the 2011 fiscal year next March.
Nintendo's 2006 pre-E3 event saw
the memorable debut of the newly renamed Wii, featuring Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto in a full tuxedo (pictured) conducting a virtual orchestra with the system's motion-sensing Remote.
Sony and Microsoft will
both be holding media briefings on Monday, June 6, before the Electronic Entertainment Expo officially begins at noon PST on June 7.
