Newsbrief: Nintendo of America will give away copies of its hit Pokemon X & Y games to consumers who purchase a new Nintendo 3DS system and one game and register at its Club Nintendo loyalty site this March. Any system from the 3DS family is eligible for the promotion, as are six first party games: Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins, and Yoshi's New Island, the only 2014 release on the list. Pokemon X & Y sold 11.61 million units globally during 2013. While the 3DS was the bestselling hardware of 2013 in the U.S., the company has stated that sales in Western markets are not as strong as it would like. This promotion may go some distance toward remedying that. The company hopes to lure third party developers to its handheld platform this year thanks to its large install base and the success of mobile conversions such as Angry Birds and Puzzle & Dragons on the platform.
