Nintendo Europe lays off 130 in headquarters relocation

Nintendo today announced that it plans to shut down its European headquarters in Großostheim, Germany, laying off around 130 people in the process. According to Eurogamer, Nintendo now plans to run its European operations out of its Frankfurt offices. The shutdown is in aid of allowing for more long-term flexibility in its game business. "Nintendo of Europe has entered into a consultation process on a number of changes it is intending to make to its European business which, in the long term, will better enable the European business to adapt to the rapidly changing business environment," the statement from Nintendo reads. The company says that it will be providing support for all affected employees, as both the warehouse and offices in Großostheim are sold off. This shutdown and layoffs come as Nintendo admitted its game business isn't going so swimmingly, with big drops in revenues and profits.
