Nintendo 3DS sales hit 20 million in Japan

The Nintendo 3DS has sold over 20 million units - 20.03 million, to be exact - in Japan since launching back in 2011.

Newsbrief: The Nintendo 3DS has sold over 20 million units - 20.03 million, to be exact - in Japan since launching back in February 2011. 

The handheld system surpassed the 20 million mark last week, according to sales data from Famitsu posted on messageboard NeoGAF, making it the fourth best selling console of all time in Japan. 

The original Nintendo DS remains on top of the pile with 32.86 million units sold, while the Game Boy/Game Boy Color and PS2 are the second and third best selling systems in the region, shifting 32.27 million and 21.98 million units respectively.
