The Nintendo 3DS held the top spot in the weekly Japanese hardware sales charts for the third consecutive week, with a total of 60,781 units sold. The 3DS rush is on the come down following the August 12 price cut, with the console having sold 196,077 units two weeks ago, and 105,639 units last week. However, it still nearly outsold both the PSP and the PlayStation 3 combined, according to data from tracking firm Media Create, and as reported by NeoGAF. Having said that, both of Sony's consoles saw a surge in sales too, with the PSP shifting 31,330 units and the PlayStation 3 selling 33,141 units. Elsewhere, Nintendo saw sales of its Wii console drop 7,000 units to 11,342, while its DS handheld also saw a drop in sales to 5,729 units. Both the DS Lite and the PSP Go held on for dear life at the bottom of the charts, with 110 units and 20 units sold respectively. Below are the full sales rankings from Media Create for the week ended August 28, 2011. (The second chart lumps together sales of all models in a given line of hardware.)
