Mobile games company Ngmoco has acquired long-time collaborator Rough Cookie (Star Defense, We Farm, We City), establishing the company's presence in Europe. Rough Cookie will "add creative power" to Ngmoco's other internal studios, according to the company, as it continues development on an unannounced title for Ngmoco's mobile game social network, Mobage. "We are delighted to formally bring Rough Cookie into our family of companies," said Ngmoco CEO Neil Young. "At Ngmoco, it’s important for us to anchor the Mobage service with great first-party games and Rough Cookie will be a key studio in achieving that goal.” Amsterdam-based Rough Cookie Studio's first Ngmoco-published game, Star Defense for iOS, was the top-selling game on the App Store in the summer of 2009. In addition to the aforementioned upcoming We City and We Farm games for Android, the studio also collaborated on two other Ngmoco games prior to its acquisition, Touch Pets and Pulse: The Game. "We had great experiences and results on the projects that we have worked on with Ngmoco, and we are truly proud to join the leader of mobile entertainment," said Rough Cookie co-founder Danny Hoffman. Ngmoco was acquired by Japanese social gaming platform DeNA late last year for a reported $403 million. DeNA is projecting that it will double its revenues and triple its profits during this fiscal year. Ngmoco plans to launch its Mobage platform for Google's Android OS in the coming months. The unannounced Rough Cookie title will be a "flagship" game on the service, according to the company.
