A new development studio has opened on the Swedish island of Gotland, which is set to focus on online multiplayer and co-op titles. ThreeGates was formed at the end of 2010, and has now been officially announced with a 25-man strong development team. Don Geyer heads up the new company as CEO, while Marcus Gezelius is company chairman, Nicodemus Mattisson takes a CCO role and Hakan Mattsson is company COO. The studio's first game will be a tactical RPG called Aethereus, and is set to be released sometime before the end of 2011. Geyer explained, "ThreeGates is the result of an incredibly talented group of people that has come together in Sweden with the sole purpose of making great games." "We see online co-op as something that the market is really wanting right now, so we're working hard to fill that void and give gamers a game that they will want to play." Mobile games company Ngmoco revealed last month that it has established a new studio in Sweden, with former general manager at Electronic Arts Ben Cousins heading it.
