Mobile game community MocoSpace has acquired location-based social games platform Geocade, while also revealing its first HTML5 title. As part of the acquisition, Geocade founder Jim Caralis has joined MocoSpace as its HTML5 game platform vice president, and will oversee the development of the company's HTML5-based titles. MocoSpace's first HTML5 game Rise to Fame will utilize Geocade's location-based technology, requiring players check in at a variety of real-world locations to unlock features in-game. Caralis said of the move, "Two pioneers are joining forces today." "MocoSpace created the first mobile social network and HMTL5 games platform. Combine that with our industry first location-based social games company and we have the recipe for a completely new game experience - beyond anything we’ve seen to date." MocoSpace revealed in August that it had doubled its HTML5 Mobile Game Developer Fund, with a total of $2 million now allocated to mobile game developers to develop games for its HTML5-based MocoSpace Games Platform.
