Cheshire, UK-based mobile games publisher Chillingo has surpassed 140 million iOS downloads since the App Store began, the company has confirmed. The Cut the Rope publisher said that it has seen this many total downloads spread over all of its titles for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad since June 2008. Joe Wee, co-general manager at Chillingo, explained, "Partnering with the industry’s most talented developers and having the revolutionary App Store to help distribute their work to the world, has made all of the difference in helping us achieve this staggering milestone." The company noted that its success in the App Store will allow it to publish even more titles from "the growing indie developer community." Electronic Arts confirmed late last year that it had purchased Chillingo, as a means of "increasing its market leadership on the Apple Platform as well as reaffirming its position as the world’s leading wireless entertainment publisher."
