Layoffs at Gigantic developer Motiga
The development of the upcoming MOBA, currently in beta, appears to be in danger -- as the developer lays off staff and seeks funding to complete the game.
Motiga, developer of upcoming Windows 10 and Xbox One MOBA Gigantic, which is currently in beta, has laid off "significant" portion of staff as it seeks funding to complete the game.
This comes in the footsteps of a layoff in December that saw the company shed 16 staff.
"Our financial situation is such that we are unable to continue supporting the entirety of the studio at this time. Though we are in active and promising discussions with a number of potential investors, the timing for those negotiations extends beyond the resources we have to maintain the staffing required to continue development on Gigantic," a blog post penned by studio co-founder Chris Chung reads, in part.
"It is of course our goal, and our deep hope, that we are able to secure the necessary funding in the near future in order to bring Gigantic to market."
Motiga pivoted to PC game develpoment in 2014 after first specializing in providing server tech for mobile games, and took investment from Asian online game publishers, including Smilegate and NetEase.
