Nintendo president Satoru Iwata will miss the company's annual meeting of shareholders later this month, as he looks to recover from surgery. The Nintendo boss did not attend E3 earlier this month, stating that illness was stopping him from doing so. Now Iwata has posted a statement on the Nintendo website, explaining that a growth was found in his bile duct. "I was counseled that removal at an early stage would be the desirable medical option," he explains. "Therefore I had surgery last week, and I came through it well, as predicted." As a result of the surgery, he will miss the annual meeting. He stated, "I understand that I have to prioritize my medical treatment and to recover as soon as possible so that I will again be able to do my best to help the company to grow. I hope that you understand." Get well soon, Mr. Iwata.
