In the wake of Quantum Break, Remedy is becoming a two-game studio

Remedy is making a public show of becoming a dual-developing studio following the launch of its latest, Quantum Break, in an effort to "create more games and hopefully get them out more often."

Finnish developer Remedy is making a public show of becoming a dual-developing studio following the launch of its latest, Quantum Break, earlier this year.

That's notable because throughout its 21-year lifespan the studio has chiefly focused on a single project at a time, often for years at a stretch -- though it has also been quietly exploring mobile game development for some time.

Now, a new blog post outlining the state of the studio suggests that Remedy is splitting its focus in an effort to release games at a quicker pace.

"Moving forward, we want to create more games and hopefully get them out more often. In order to achieve this, Remedy has expanded into two game development teams," writes studio communications chief Thomas Puha.

"For a while now already, we’ve been developing a brand new Remedy game with a new partner. Our second team is working on an early concept, which will turn into another Remedy game sometime in the future."

The studio is saying little about the nature of the projects, other than that they're not related to Remedy's 2010 game Alan Wake.

Speaking to Gamasutra last year, studio frontman Sam Lake said that "coming out of Alan Wake, we were really looking to do a sequel," but instead wound up pitching the game that became Quantum Break to assuage publisher Microsoft Studios' thirst for something new.
