Newsbrief: Silicon Valley-based developer Ignite Game Technologies has secured $5 million in a new round of financing for its upcoming online racing game Simraceway, and its complementary S1 Steering Wheel accessory.
Currently available with a public beta,
Simraceway seeks to provide a realistic racing experience with "highly-accurate, simulation-grade driving physics" and laser-scanned tracks designed to provide "millimeter-accurate" virtual copies of real-world courses.
It's also used at Ignite's Simraceway Performance Driving Center, a permanent real-world racing facility Ignite helped set up at California's Infineon Raceway last August. Aspiring professional racecar drivers train with the software there before racing on the actual track.
This Series C round of funding, which saw participation from both existing and new private investors, brings the total amount Ignite has raised to $17.5 million since its founding in 2008. The developer says it will use this new backing to support the upcoming launch of its products.
