HTC's SteamVR-powered Vive virtual reality headset will be made available for pre-order on February 29.

That's according to HTC's chief executive, Cher Wang, who confirmed the pre-order date in an interview with the Telegraph

No shipping date was announced, although back in December HTC promised a commercial launch in April 2016, while pricing details were also notably absent.

HTC recently brought a second-gen Vive development kit to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, showing off new features such as a front-facing camera that pipes in footage of the real world and notifies wearers when they're about to exit the Vive's tracking area.

Assuming it does launch in April, the Vive will start shipping at the same time as the Oculus Rift, which can be pre-ordered right now for $599.
