Ghost of Tsushima has sold over 8 million copies in less than two years, according to developer Sucker Punch Productions.

The open-world samurai adventure launched for PlayStation 4 on July 17, 2020, before the release of an expanded Director's Cut also brought the title to PlayStation 5.

Ghost of Tsushima became the fastest-selling first party original PS4 game in history after topping 5 million sales in under four months.

The title's success resulted in Sony developing a film project based on the nascent franchise, with John Wick's Chad Stahleski currently attached to direct.

In August last year, Sony also moved to release Ghost of Tsushima's multiplayer mode Ghost of Tsushuma: Legends as a standalone game.
