Newsbrief: Video game retailer GameStop said today that it has seen "strong consumer enthusiasm" for its smartphone trade-in initiative, with the program exceeding the company's expectations. The company began accepting iOS devices as trade-in for store credit back in September. Although it did not provide specific trade-in figures, GameStop said that the scheme is proving more popular than it had anticipated. In particular, it noted that there was "strong post-holiday traffic" for the program, as consumers who received new devices for Christmas were now trading in old devices. Gamasutra has contacted GameStop for exact trade-in numbers.
