Freeplay Independent Games Festival 2011 Winners Announced

The winners of the 2011 Freeplay Independent Games Festival have been announced, with Alexander Bruce's Antichamber picking up the Best Australian Game and Best Design awards.

The winners of the 2011 Freeplay Independent Games Festival have been announced, with Alexander Bruce's Antichamber picking up the Best Australian Game award. Originally an 2011 IGF finalist and a Pax 10 showcase winner, Antichamber, previously known as Hazard, also picked up the Best Design award, beating the likes of Solar 2 by Jay Watts, and Warco by Defiant Development. Facepalm Games' The Swapper took home the best international game, while the aforementioned Warco was the winner of the Best Art award. Freeplay director Paul Callaghan said of the winners, "The awards reflect both the values of the festival and the wide range of projects being created locally and overseas. We were incredibly impressed with the diversity, experimentation, vision, and creativity of all the entries, and look forward to seeing that continue in 2012."
