All in all, Hirano spent just under 11 years at Konami, holding a variety of executive positions before finally leaving in March, 2016.

Now, as president of Kojima Productions, the industry vet will be responsible for "managing extremely talented creative teams as one single entity and providing the leadership to make company successful as one of the greatest creative studios in the world."

Kojima Productions reformed as an independent studio in the wake of Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima's now infamous split from Konami.
