Rhode Island-based 38 Studios has been down and out for some time, following its financial difficulties and inevitable collapse last year. Now the company's assets are to be sold at auction in November. The listing has appeared on the auction services website for Heritage Global Partners, with the auction due to take place between November 14-15. The studio's Amalur universe IP will be up for grabs, including in-development MMORPG Project Copernicus, and merchandise and sequel rights to Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. IP rights for the properties of 38 Studios' subsidiary Big Huge Games are also being put up for auction. These include strategy titles Rise of Nations, Rise of Legends and Catan on Xbox Live Arcade. Finally, the company's in-house technology, including Big Huge Games' own game engine and 38 Studios' development platform 'Helios', will be on the table.
