Unreal Engine 4 subscribers can now register for a free ticket to either of two identical half-day training sessions during Epic's next Unreal Developer Days event, which will take place next week -- April 17 -- at Staffordshire University in the U.K. The company has been hosting Developer Days for years, but this is the first such event that will focus on unpacking and explaining the tools and technologies built into Unreal Engine 4, which was revealed last month during the 2014 Game Developers Conference. It's also the first time in recent memory that the barrier to entry for an Unreal Developer Days event -- namely, a subscription to the Unreal Engine -- has been so affordable ($19/month plus 5 percent of the gross revenue of any shipped UE4 games), rendering it a seemingly excellent opportunity for small-scale developers to meet and learn from other Unreal developers and Epic engineers. If the venue sounds familiar, it's because Epic announced a two-year partnership with Staffordshire University back in January to provide the university's game design program with hardware, software, and guidance from Epic Games personnel.
