Epic hands out $100k in Unreal Dev Grants to support educators

Epic Games has today dished out more cash from its $5 million Unreal Dev Grants program, handing out $100,000 in no-strings-attached funding to creatives using Unreal Engine 4.

Epic Games has today dished out more cash from its $5 million Unreal Dev Grants program, handing out $100,000 in no-strings-attached funding to creatives using Unreal Engine 4.

Epic doled out $75,000 in educational grants last August, and is continuing that trend by awarding even more grants to instructors, tutorial creators, book authors, and formal educators.

The latest recipients include Andrej Koloska, the creator of Unreal development tutorial ShooterTutorial; Ben Tristem, a popular game developer and coding tutor; Nick Marks, a former triple-A game dev and the co-founder of the Game Gen development schools; and LayoutVR, a growing online community that recently piloted a 10 week virtual reality course at Stanford University.

"A few months ago we awarded more than $75,000 in educational grants to individuals creating outstanding learning resources for Unreal Engine 4," said Luis Cataldi, Epic's education evangelist.

"We couldn't be happier with the results, and so today we are issuing $100,000 to instructors, tutorial creators, book authors and formal educators whose noteworthy contributions are helping people achieve success with Unreal."
