E3 could leave Los Angeles next year

Organizers for E3 may move the trade show outside of Los Angeles next year due to issues concerning the city's remodeling of the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Organizers for E3 may move the trade show outside of Los Angeles next year due to issues concerning the city's remodeling of the Los Angeles Convention Center. Taking place this week, E3 is one of the largest annual video game trade shows, helping generate some $40 million in direct spending for Los Angeles. The city has hosted E3 for 16 of the 18 years it has been running. The Entertainment Software Association, which organizes the show, though, told the Los Angeles times that it's yet to resolve issues with the city over the planned Farmers Field stadium addition to the Convention Center. "We need assurances on things like square footage, the quality of the space, the ease of loading and unloading equipment, signage throughout the convention center for marketing and sponsorships," said ESA president Michael Gallgher. "We love being in Los Angeles, but we also have a show to put on." ESA is still in negotiations with the city over the matter, but it says the issues need to be addressed soon. Executives close to the group claim that other cities under consideration for hosting the show include San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and New Orleans.
