Devs, you can now pitch your own Gex game to Square Enix

For the first time, developers can now pitch (and potentially make) games using intellectual property from Eidos' Anachronox, Fear Effect and Gex games via the Square Enix Collective platform.

That means Square Enix has finally delivered on its 2013 promise to make these properties available to outside developers (for a 10 percent licensing fee, of course, plus additional fees for going the Collective route.)

More importantly, it means you can now pitch your take on a gritty Gex reboot.

"I’m excited to see what talented teams might do with any one of [the] Gex, Fear Effect or Anachronox IPs," stated Square Enix Collective lead Phil Elliot in a press release. "We’ll monitor the response carefully before deciding which IPs to release next."

Square Enix launched the Collective in 2013 as a platform for developers to post ideas for games that are then judged by the community of people who've signed up for a Collective account.

If a pitch garners enough community interest, Square Enix can work with the developer to help crowdfund the game's development, then offer distribution services once the game is ready to ship.

As of today three pitches have advanced to the crowdfunding stage and hit their funding goals: Kitfox Games' Moon Hunters, Sad Sand Sailor's Black The Fall and Goetia from French studio Sushee.

Further details on the business of pitching games via the Collective can be found in this blog post.
