Bungie composer Marty O'Donnell fired 'without cause'

Marty O'Donnell, the American video game composer best known for producing the music for Bungie's Halo series, is no longer with the studio -- and according to the industry veteran, it wasn't a pleasant separation. O'Donnell started his video game career as a sound designer on Riven in the 90s, and eventually went on to produce all the music and sound for the Halo franchise at Bungie. He has also been creating the music for Bungie's next title Destiny. However, a blog post on the Bungie website from David Dague today says that O'Donnell is not working for Bungie anymore. "For more than a decade, Marty O'Donnell filled our worlds with unforgettable sounds and soundtracks, and left an indelible mark on our fans," notes Dague. "Today, as friends, we say goodbye." But it would appear that O'Donnell may not have left on as good terms as Dague suggests. In a single tweet this morning, O'Donnell stated, "I'm saddened to say that Bungie's board of directors terminated me without cause on April 11, 2014." Gamasutra has contacted Bungie to find out more details.
