Newsbrief: Industrial Toys, a mobile game studio headed up by former Bungie founder and president Alex Seropian alongside science fiction writer John Scalzi, today announced that it has secured $5 million in funding. The pair plans to use this cash injection to launch its first mobile game, Midnight Star, later this year. The studio aims to attract the "mobile core" audience with its games -- that is, it wants to create games that traditional console players will want to try on tablet. This round of funding was led by Accel Partners, best known in the video game world for funding studios like Rovio and Supercell at an early stage.
