Bigpoint acquired by Chinese publisher Youzu

Chinese publisher Youzu Interactive has agreed to acquire Hamburg-based online and mobile game specialist, Bigpoint.

Chinese publisher Youzu Interactive has agreed to acquire Hamburg-based online and mobile game specialist, Bigpoint. 

The deal, subject to Chinese acquisition processes, will go through for an undisclosed fee in April, and will see Youzu take charge of Bigpoint's other offices in Berlin, Lyon, Istanbul, Seoul, San Francisco, and Malta.

By joining forces both companies hope to tighten their grip on the global market, beginning with the launch of Bigpoint's upcoming puzzler, Hocus Puzzle, which will now have a worldwide marketing budget in excess of €30 million ($33.7 million). 

"We will now be able to further invest in our talent, the amazing experiences they create and the reach of our games.” explained Bigpoint CEO, Khaled Helioui.

“Partnering with a player centric, product focused organization such as Youzu will allow us to have the means of our ambition: Great gaming for everybody.”
