2K Games and developer Gearbox Software have revealed that 2009 multiplayer shooter Borderlands is to receive a sequel sometime during 2K parent Take-Two's next fiscal year, beginning April 2012. Coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, Borderlands 2 will build on the original release, with players exploring new territory in the world of Pandora. The sequel will provide a whole new range of characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and power-ups, along with a brand new story. 2K Games will be showing off the new title at this month's gamescom in Cologne, Germany, as well as PAX Prime in Seattle, Washington at the end of the month. An official website for the upcoming title has now been launched, although more details regarding the content of the game are yet to be divulged. The game is set to be released sometime after April 1, 2012. The original Borderlands received critical acclaim from the press, while a game of the year edition was released late last year.
