2 million pre-orders for the iPhone 5

Newsbrief: Apple naysayers have been well and truly put in their place today, as the upcoming iPhone 5 saw more preorders in its first 24 hours on sale than any iPhone before it. Over 2 million pre-orders for the iPhone 5 were made in the first 24 hours of it being on sale. In comparison, last year's iPhone 4S saw just over 1 million pre-orders in its first 24 hours, meaning the iPhone 5 has doubled that previous record. The iPhone 5, due to launch on September 21, is slightly thinner and lighter than the 4S model, with a display that is .5 inches bigger, and a new A6 chip that promises 100 percent faster performance overall. Gamasutra's Chris Morris noted recently that he believes the device will have a huge impact on video games.
