Super Mario Run hits 37 million downloads in three days

Nintendo's iOS exclusive platformer Super Mario Run has pulled in over 37 million worldwide downloads in just three days.

After launching on December 15, Nintendo's iOS exclusive platformer Super Mario Run managed to pull in over 37 million worldwide downloads in just three days.

That's according to mobile analytics outfit, App Annie, which revealed the majority of those downloads, 11.05 million to be exact, came from the States. 

To get a sense of the game's popularity, App Annie analysed those U.S. figures and found that between December 15 and 18 the average Mario Run user played the game 2.4 times a day. 

The average time spent in each of those play sessions totalled 5 minutes and 35 seconds, meaning most users played for around 13 minutes a day.

As interesting as these figures are, it's worth noting that they don't offer much insight into the habits of those who've purchased the game versus those playing for free. 

We also don't know how many of those 37 million downloads ended in a sale, although judging by Super Mario Run's success on the App Store charts, it's fair to assume more than a handful of players took the plunge.
