Chris Roberts' upcoming persistent space exploration title, Star Citizen, has now raised over $100 million through crowdfunding.

Robert's studio, RSI, has actually raised $100,138,860 to be exact, with around $45 million of that total trickling in over the past 12 months.

The project has now been backed by over 1 million players.

Industry consultant and frequent Gamasutra blogger Thomas Bidaux recently published a chart comparing funding data from Kickstarter and RSI's own crowdfunding efforts.

Incredibly, Bidaux found that during 2014 Star Citizen brought in more crowdfunding cash than all of the successful video game Kickstarters combined, although Bidaux did temper his findings by explaining that 2014 was a sub-par year for video game Kickstarters on the whole.
