Namco Bandai has revealed that the next title in the fighting game series
Soul Calibur will be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.
At the Japanese publisher's "Step Up Dubai 2011" conference, a teaser trailer for the upcoming
Soul Calibur V was shown, while more details were promised for E3.
As noted by Japanese games site Famitsu, and
translated by Andriasang, producer Tago Hisaharu said that
Soul Calibur V will be set 17 years after the previous outing.
The Japanese Namco Bandai site
currently features a countdown to what will supposedly be the official
Soul Calibur V site.
Earlier this week,
Namco Bandai posted results for the last fiscal year, noting a modest revenue boost and a swing to profit.
The publisher revealed that a title from another of its big fighting game series,
Tekken 6, had sold a total of 1.15 million units in the U.S. alone in the last fiscal year, despite being released in 2009.
