Namco Bandai has revealed that the next title in the fighting game series Soul Calibur will be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. At the Japanese publisher's "Step Up Dubai 2011" conference, a teaser trailer for the upcoming Soul Calibur V was shown, while more details were promised for E3. As noted by Japanese games site Famitsu, and translated by Andriasang, producer Tago Hisaharu said that Soul Calibur V will be set 17 years after the previous outing. The Japanese Namco Bandai site currently features a countdown to what will supposedly be the official Soul Calibur V site. Earlier this week, Namco Bandai posted results for the last fiscal year, noting a modest revenue boost and a swing to profit. The publisher revealed that a title from another of its big fighting game series, Tekken 6, had sold a total of 1.15 million units in the U.S. alone in the last fiscal year, despite being released in 2009.
