Rise of the Tomb Raider took home the award for "Outstanding Achievement in Videogame Writing" at the 2016 Writers Guild Awards over the weekend.

The second chapter in Crystal Dynamics' rebooted series, Rise's story was the result of a collaboration between lead narrative designer John Stafford; narrative designer Cameron Suey; lead writer Rhianna Pratchett; and additional writer Philip Gelatt.

The Xbox One exclusive was up against strong competition in the form of The Witcher 3, Pillars of Eternity, and Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

Rise is also up for a number of awards at the 19th annual D.I.C.E. Awards, which will be held later this week in Las Vegas.
