Pre-orders of highly anticipated shooter
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are currently on track to better the previous record held by
Black Ops in the UK, potentially making the upcoming title the most pre-ordered game ever.
Games retailer
GameStop reported last month that it was receiving more pre-orders for
Modern Warfare 3 than it did for its predecessor
Black Ops.
Now UK retailer Game has told news site MCV that
it has also found that pre-orders are "significantly" bigger for the upcoming title.
Game Group's Tom Devine said, "
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders are already tracking significantly ahead of
Call of Duty: Black Ops at the same time last year."
"We know that the
Call of Duty brand and franchise has the most amazing fan-base and we’ve got some great surprises lined up for those who pre-order with us. We’re looking forward to an incredible launch on November 8."
Black Ops currently holds the record for the biggest selling retail video game of all time in the United Kingdom. However,
analysts believe that Modern Warfare 3 could eventually take this title.
