Newsbrief: Independent game developer Day 1 Studios on Monday announced Reign of Thunder, a free-to-play multiplayer mech combat title. Day 1 is the studio behind BattleTech-licensed MechAssault, an early hit on the original Xbox Live released in 2002. A follow up, MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf, released in 2004. The game will be action-heavy, with a focus on mech customization including choice of weapons, gadgets and shields. Reign of Thunder will also have clan support. Day 1 creative director and executive producer, TJ "PAINGOD" Wagner promised a combination of "customization and RPG elements of the early MechWarrior PC and board games with the fast paced arcade action of the MechAssault series."
