Electronic Arts said this week that Mass Effect 3 has sold nearly 900,000 copies in its first 24 hours on sale in the U.S. alone, while 3.5 million units have been shipped worldwide. Speaking at the Wedbush Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference, and as reported by Venturebeat, Electronic Arts chief executive John Riccitiello estimated that the game has sold close to 890,000 units in total in the U.S. He also noted that the day-one downloadable content for the game has been a success, as retailer GameStop reports a 40 percent tie ratio for gamers who purchased both the game and the DLC. The game has shipped more than 3.5 million units worldwide since it launched earlier this week, and has been praised by critics.
