Square Enix has revealed that the entire Final Fantasy game series has now surpassed 100 million units shipped in total. The total is spread over the fourteen main, numbered titles of the series, as well as the various prequels, spinoffs and minigames available as part of the series. The studio is currently working on Final Fantasy XIII-2, the next in the series, which will be made available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in the coming winter. Yoichi Wada, president and chief executive officer at Square Enix, noted, "We are extremely proud of what the Final Fantasy franchise has achieved over the years and continue to be extremely excited about the future." Naoki Yoshida, producer for Square Enix's troubled MMO Final Fantasy XIV, revealed last month an extensive list of gameplay changes the development team has planned for the title through the summer.
