Civilization MMO takes series in new design direction

An MMO based on the Civilization franchise is in development, with Lineage creator Jake Song behind the wheel.
Newsbrief: An MMO based on the Civilization franchise is in development, with Lineage creator Jake Song behind the wheel. Civilization Online is being built by Song's studio XL Games, and is a big step away from the main Civilization series. Talking to Massively, Song explained that the game is an MMORPG where players control a single character within a civilization, instead of the omnipresent ruler of an entire civilization, as it is in the "regular" installments in the series. Players are able to use their character to advance their civilization through the ages in real-time, by taking on "careers" and fulfilling specific roles and quests. Users can also create content for the sandbox world. All the details can be found at Massively.
