Call of Duty Elite Beta Launches Today

Activision has revealed more details regarding its Call of Duty Elite beta, which is set to launch today. Activision's Dan Amrich revealed on his One of Swords blog that invitations to the beta will be sent out in waves, starting with the first people who signed up and adding more over time. Amrich announced last month that over 2 million users had signed up to the beta within two weeks of the first announcement. He has now explained that the plan is to eventually invite all 2 million users into the beta, although Activision will be starting with just a small group from day one. The beta, although globally-released, will be in English only, and will be integrated into Call of Duty: Black Ops. Modern Warfare 3 functionality will be added when the game officially launches on November 8. Everything in the beta will be free-to-play, including the premium membership content. There isn't yet a set end date for the beta, and instead this will be decided at a later date. The Call of Duty Elite service, managed by Activision's Beachhead studio, offers free features such as stat tracking, video sharing, and enhanced matchmaking to all registered users, and those who pay a monthly fee will gain access to downloadable content and other additional content.
