When a developer calls the notion of players torrenting their game "a good idea," there must be something rotten in the state of Denmark. 

Commenting on a thread in Reddit today, RageSquid founder Lex Decrauw asked players to "please just torrent my game instead of supporting shady resellers, I'll even give you the download link."

"I understand people aren't always able or willing to pay full price for a game, but seeing people play my game is the most important thing to me. Just torrent it instead of putting money in the wrong hands."

PCGamesN's Kirk McKeand reached out to Decrauw for further comment, and the developer elaborated on his views, stating his studio doesn't see piracy as automatically bad, and possibly a means of introducing new players to their games. 

But when it comes to G2A and other resellers, Decrauw has far less tolerance. "We feel that G2A and similar market places are facilitating a black market economy as explained in the TinyBuild article that started this discussion." 

"At RageSquid we haven't had a run-in with G2A-like marketplaces yet, but that's because we're not yet partnering with a lot of resellers. However, we are planning on partnering up with bundle sites in the future and we'd like to avoid situations like what happened to TinyBuild."

After PCGamesN's story went live, we saw several developers on Twitter, including Vlambeer's Rami Ismail and Minor Key Games' David Pittman agree with Decauw's statements. G2A has put up a valiant effort in the last few days to push back against claims that its service is bad for developers, but when developers are saying it may be better for players to steal their games rathern then buy from G2A, those claims show it will need to put in more work to win over developers' faith.
