The upcoming Wikipad, an Android tablet that promises to offer a number of game-specific features, is about to see its official release, and will debut at GameStop on October 31 for $499. The Wikipad, first revealed earlier this year, includes an attachable gamepad peripheral, and claims to offer core game experiences within the form factor of a tablet. The hardware includes an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, and will support Sony's PlayStation Mobile platform, as well as the Google Play marketplace. The $499 price point makes the Wikipad just as expensive as an entry-level version of the latest iPad, and is quite a bit more than other game-focused tablets like the recently announced Archos GamePad. GameStop is now taking pre-orders for the Wikipad, and all tablets purchased via pre-order will come bundled with a number of "full-length games" and an issue of GameInformer Digital. Outside of GameStop, Wikipad developer Wikipad Inc. has not announced any other retailers for the upcoming device.
