Before striking out on his own, veteran game programmer and occasional Gamasutra contributor Brett Douville spent time at LucasArts and Bethesda working on everything from X-Wing Alliance to Skyrim.

His final LucasArts engagement was a lead programming gig on Star Wars: Republic Commando, and this week he began livestreaming himself playing the game on his Twitch channel while discussing the ins and outs of its development.

It's an elucidating peek behind the development of an original Xbox game that digs into nitty-gritty development details like color choice, UI design and the challenges of spinning a compelling Star Wars story without leaving first-person perspective.

Douville has uploaded a recording (embedded above) of his initial 85-minute stream to YouTube, and plans to continue streaming and talking about the game on a weekly basis via Twitch.
