Audio solution provider Audiokinetic has announced Wwise Motion, a new toolset modeled after the company's Wwise software and targeted at developers looking to create, customize, and manage motion in their video games. Wwise, or WaveWorks Interactive Sound Engine, combines a robust sound engine with advanced audio authoring tools for a complete audio pipeline solution. Wwise Motion is built to create and integrate game motion at the same level. The new middleware software will support all next-gen platform controllers -- Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the Wii. “Wwise Motion comes from a very simple, yet very bright idea,” said Simon Ashby, Product Development Manager, Audiokinetic. “In video games, whenever there is motion, there is sound. So the idea was to simply and automatically generate motion by using the actual sound signal and transforming it into motion adapted for each platform controller, and peripherals such as the D-Box chair.”
