For March's Game Developers Conference 2014, we're very happy to announce a new addition to our lineup of excellent sessions.
Nintendo's Aya Kyogoku and Katsuya Eguchi are teaming up to deliver a postmortem talk on acclaimed title Animal Crossing: New Leaf for 3DS. The pair plan to discuss what it was like to develop a game in such a storied franchise. Attendees can expect to learn more about the challenges of trying to provide both old and new players with an Animal Crossing game that was fresh and interesting, while at the same time striving to keep the franchise true to its unique legacy.
Aya Kyogoku is the project leader of Software Development Group 2 at Nintendo EAD. She joined the company in 2003 and most recently served as director on Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Prior to that, she worked on games like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Animal Crossing: City Folk.
Katsuya Eguchi is the producer and manager of Software Development Group 2 at Nintendo EAD. He joined the company in 1986, and prior to his work producing Animal Crossing: New Leaf he served as director or producer on multiple well-known Nintendo titles, including Star Fox, Wii Sports and Nintendo Land. He previously spoke at GDC 2006 about his work on Animal Crossing: Wild World.
Like most game postmortems, this will be an hour-long session -- we'll have more scheduling details about the talk as GDC gets closer, but we figure this is a session you might like to know about early!
