Senior Character Artist, 2K Games

Location: Novato, CA 2K is looking for an exceptional senior character artist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of anatomy, with a strong background in sculpting, drapery, materials, hair and styling. The ideal candidate’s principle responsibilities will be to work with the Lead Character Artist and Art Director to create unique characters. These characters should have personality, charisma, unique silhouettes and fit in a current generation memory footprint. RESPONSIBILITIES Create high-resolution and game-resolution 3D character models from concept art and reference materials. Create character textures and shaders in engine. Create clothing and equipment, both organic and hard-surface. SKILLS Extremely strong modeling skills. Experience with Zbrush and/or Mudbox. Experience with Maya and/or 3DS Max. Experience creating high resolution textures in Photoshop. 1 Shipped title on either PC, Xbox 360 or PS3 as a character modeler. 3-5 years game industry experience. Deep understanding of anatomy and how characters move when rigged. Ability to take on large and complex tasks and self-manage on-time delivery. Able to respond elegantly to difficult creative changes, often late in the process. Self-motivated towards solving creative problems. Able to communicate modeling concepts with other artists visually using quick thumbnail sketches or acting. Ability to set up character screenshots for promotional or internal use. EXTRA CREDIT Experience creating practical models and maquettes. Experience with physics setup for cloth and/or hair. Experience creating blend shapes/morph targets. Experience with creating textures in Mari. Experience with the Unreal Engine. 3+ years film industry experience. Traditional art skills/background. Interested? Apply now.
