How Big is the Pokemon Go Phenomenon in Southeast Asia

On the 6th July 2016, Pokémon GO was released with many eager fans waiting to have a go at it (no pun intended). Since then, the app has garnered millions of users worldwide, surpassing the daily active Twitter users.

Pokemon Go is a mobile application that made Pokemon fans dream come true. This game can be accessed by IOS and Android users. It functions with the GPS, time, and camera of smartphones to capture Pokémon in the real virtual world. Pokemon Go was officially released in early July 2016. According to the Wall Street Journal, Pokemon Go will be launched in Japan, Europe, and other Asian countries after Niantic (maker of Pokemon Go) fix technical issues caused by the server that often arise.

Just days after its release, Pokemon Go has gone viral and has been able to beat the number of daily users on Twitter. Two days after the launch, 5.16% Android users in the US have it installed. The app was used on an average of 43 Minutes and 23 seconds per day defeating various social media like Whatsapp, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook Messenger. No wonder Pokemon Go has increased the profit of US $ 7 million for Nintendo(One of the largest investors in Niantic).
