Have I mentioned that I love Hulu lately? (Granted, I live in the US.) The season premieres of Bones and Fringe both aired this week. Hulu streamed the episodes the next day. More importantly, I can watch Supernatural live instead of having to choose between Fringe or a delay on CW's site, but I guess I already knew that.

Tech Tree is a list of links about games in BYOND Strategy, a guild run by volunteers on a game/development portal and software engine called BYOND.  Those curious about notes or YouTube videos I've cut out can view the original version.

  • IainPeregrine's Game in a Day 2009 event has ended. (Acebloke kept a journal of his entry's progress for those who are interested.) Results are expected within a couple weeks. I hesitate to add entries from these events to the guild without knowing they'll be updated, but some strategy games were created. For instance, Jp offered a turn-based tactical game featuring robots under the unfortunate name, Gears of War, and D4RK3 54B3R released the source to an RTS called Empyrean War.

  • Acebloke announced that he may soon be offering updates for multiple games. His abstract boardgame, Exploder, could gain automatic Elo rankings. His Civilization-inspired conquest, Wargames 2, could get the all-around update that he keeps promising. His strategy RPG, Joshtan1, could get more than a demo. His chess variation, Law of the Board, could be getting an interface upgrade... Non-strategy games are candidates for updates as well, but you can read his post for those. ;)

  • Lodowy Wilk is still looking for an artist to help with a turn-based strategy game influenced by Heroes of Might and Magic.

  • Crispy/Inventive Dingo has changed his BYOND blog title from "Stop Making Games" to "Whatever you do, make it awesome." I don't think he ever explained what the first title meant so I've told the guild to pretend he's a vile incarnation of discouragement that we vanquished. ;)

  • I updated my daemonic wargame of adaptable units, Flesh and Drone, with sounds and more. Sound updates for my bot-crasher, Gears & Peers, and my abstract dungeon crawler, GrimTunnel, are likely next.

Flesh and Drone should meet the guild's guidelines to be featured. (Gears & Peers will likely be in the same boat soon.) However, my guildmaster position makes me hesitate to do so. In the past, I've tried to make due with swapping out an outdated game of mine, but I currently offer support for all of my featured games. A thumbs-up from another source on BYOND would be appreciated.
