BYOND Strategy Tech Tree: 123
Tech Tree is a list of links about games in BYOND Strategy, a guild run by volunteers on a game/development portal and software engine called BYOND.
I've been spending some time designing a 2-player boardgame influenced by my work on Flesh and Drone. I think I've settled on a fun set of mechanics that don't require any bookkeeping.
My goal is to offer the game through The Game Crafter's on-demand service. Perhaps their stock has been depleted due to unexpected popularity, but I kept color-coding my game pieces just to find out that the colors in the pictures were either not available or limited to a single piece. On the bright side, I stumbled onto a theme while finding the most inexpensive parts that matched.

Acebloke has updated his economic/military simulation, Wargames. The hub page has screenshots, players are now required to remove their United Nations protection in order to buy nukes, and subscribed hosts can now determine the maximum land cost per tile. Other changes include updated scores, new medals, and support for space races. Acebloke has also provided a list of games and plans which you are welcome to sponsor.
Mobius Evalon has been providing progress reports for the next version of his collection of chess variants, Chess. He has begun again from scratch with support for checkers and an upgraded interface. He's currently working on the king's involvement. Screenshots galore.
I now feel justified linking to progress reports on Geldonyetich's Vehicle Wars. According to his latest post, the game will play differently according to which faction a player joins. Two of the factions hold promise. The hive-like aliens will be controlled in bulk as in Dwarf Fortress and the humans will be controlled like a standard RTS. Muhuhahaha!
If Jeff8500 can find a pixel artist, then he might balance Real Time Defense and add more content. I don't know what an artist has to do with game balance, but I suppose the monkeys in the game need friends.
THESINKING is looking to resume work on Paragon Entertainment's Military Tycoon. Unfortunately, the game was canceled and the team's head, Squeegy, released the source. Ah, communication.
I was going to try releasing a version of my daemonic wargame, Flesh and Drone, without spells. While sounds are currently absent and I imagine there are some bugs hiding, the game should be playable. However, I started adding spells anyway. At least, I started adding the graphics for spells. It took me an unreasonably long time to settle on some little shields and blades/teeth for the power modifications. I still need to figure out how to display which drones can do multiple damage to daemons.
