BYOND Strategy Tech Tree: 116

Tech Tree is a list of links about games in BYOND Strategy, a guild run by volunteers on a game/development portal and engine called BYOND.

(On an unrelated note, GamerDad/Gaming With Children is calling for donations.)

This is probably old news, but I thought I'd give a shout-out to Gaming With Children as I've recommended the site to parents I know. (Granted, I believe it was GamerDad.com back then.) Picture some gamer parents with an ad-free site who dedicate time and effort to educating other parents instead of letting them blame videogames for their problems. Now picture the site getting more articles and views because you donated.

Tech Tree is a list of links about games in BYOND Strategy, a guild run by volunteers on a game/development portal and engine called BYOND.  Those curious about notes or YouTube videos I've cut out can view the original version.

  • Tsfreaks uploaded multiple updates for his base defense game, Tower Defense: Clone Wars. Scores have been reset and difficulty levels have been removed, but people can now spectate and the spawn rates are being tweaked.

The latest versions are labeled as release candidates. I'm curious about how Tsfreaks is going to make a "release" different from his other uploads. Promotion?

  • While nothing has been uploaded, Tsfreaks has also been working on his version of Cathedral. Pictures of the lobby system and the area capture system are included. Debugging the lobby system appears to be a chore. On the bright side, Dever, who is known on BYOND for his own boardgame conversions, seems to have been quite helpful with the AI. =)

  • Gen40 updated his space exploration game, Galactics. However, it's no longer available for download... This after I just stated how happy I was to not have to keep track of servers.

  • Geldonyetich is Pondering Mankind while designing a space trading game. I find it more interesting that he's trying to decide whether to focus on the strategy or the RPG aspect of the genre. His recent CSS suggests that he has gone to the dark side. I'm just not sure which is which. ;)

  • I've been refining the design of my demonic game of balancing and battling, Flesh And Drone, to focus more on resource management as I originally intended. As a side effect, the turn order should be easier to understand and the interface should be simplified.
