BYOND Strategy Tech Tree: 113
Tech Tree is a list of links about games in BYOND Strategy, a guild run by volunteers on a game/development portal and engine called BYOND.
I like how I can pretend that people are reading this blog on Gamasutra. I can't do that on IGN. This month will mark my IGN blog's first (and possibly last) anniversary of Tech Tree. While the content I post might not interest many, my recent posts are usually listed multiple times under multiple categories. I have somehow managed to maintain a streak of zero views. I don't just suck at promoting this niche. I smell and my dog looks funny.
Answering his own Get Something Done challenge, IainPeregrine released Castle Masters. It's a tactical battle for two players where the timing of unit movement is determined by cards. Despite having yet to win a match, I added it to the guild. ;)
Stating interest outside of BYOND as his motivation, Squeegy has updated his god playing/worshiping game, Faith. Players can now stop working on buildings, the mapmaker was updated, and a new map for two gods, called Promised Land, was added. Of course, my favorite update seems to be that wolves are "more aggressive but also more whimsical".
After yet another redesign, Tsfreaks appears to be taking a break from his version of Cathedral in order to work on a framework for use in multiple projects. Once complete, he plans on returning to Cathedral in order to finish the tournament functionality.
BlackKingX has released the code and graphics to his unfinished RTS, Robocross. Developers may make any changes they want and BlackKingX is willing to take a few questions.
Punisher12 is looking for a programmer to help with a BYOND interpretation of a late Bonus.com game called Battlefield. Payment appears up for negotiation. I'm not familiar with the inspiration, but the videos I've seen on YouTube look interesting.
Polatrite has been struggling to get his defense game, Pokemon Challenger, recognized by a banner guild. It has been submitted to BYOND Strategy, but Pokemon games on BYOND generally go to BYOND Anime and I'd rather have a standard policy to follow than be making random exceptions. On multiple occasions, Tiberath has expressed that the bulk of Pokemon games on BYOND could be welcomed into BYOND RPG on the basis that the franchise did not start as a cartoon. If that happens, Challenger will be accepted in Strategy.
I didn't get any audio done this week. Instead, I took some time to refine the design of Flesh And Drone. It's a turn-based game with a demonic theme where players bid to create new types of units and modify their relative power.
