Xenoblade dev Monolith Soft co-developing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

In order to perfect its open-ended version of Hyrule, Nintendo has enlisted the help of Monolith Soft, the team behind open-world action RPG, Xenoblade Chronicles.

Xenoblade Chronicles developer Monolith Soft is once again giving Nintendo a hand with its Zelda franchise.

Comprehensively unveiled at E3 2016, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild features a number of series firsts, such as a dedicated jump button, snippets of voice acting, and a more seamless open-world.

In order to perfect that open-ended version of Hyrule, Nintendo has again enlisted the help of Monolith, which also assisted with Skyward Sword.

"Yes they [Monolith] are involved in this Zelda. People from Tokyo and Kyoto are working together on this," explained Mario and Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto, speaking to Game Informer at E3

"There is a team of over 100 helping work on this project, and their work has really been helpful."

Monolith isn't the first non-Nintendo studio to work on a Zelda project, with developers such as Capcom and Team Ninja having previously taken the lead on handheld and spin-off titles including The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, and Hyrule Warriors
